(1) In this section, “drug court” means a court that diverts a substance-abusing person from prison or jail into treatment by increasing direct supervision of the person, coordinating public resources, providing intensive community-based treatment, and expediting case processing. (2) From the appropriation under s. 20.455 (2) (eg), the department of justice shall provide, to counties that have not established a drug court, grants to establish and operate drug courts.
