Judicial compensation adjustment - annual general appropriations bill

(1) Effective July 1, 1988, the annual compensation of justices and judges in effect on the
preceding June 30, as provided in section 13-30-103 (1)(a) to (1)(g) and (1)(j), shall be increased
by four thousand five hundred dollars, and the annual compensation of all special associate,
associate, and assistant county judges shall be adjusted as a percentage of such amount as
provided in section 13-30-103 (1)(k).
(2) (a) Effective July 1, 1995, the annual compensation of justices and judges in effect
on the preceding June 30, as provided in section 13-30-103 (1)(a) to (1)(g) and (1)(j) and
subsection (1) of this section, shall be increased by four thousand dollars, and the annual
compensation of all special associate, associate, and assistant county judges shall be adjusted as
a percentage of such amount as provided in section 13-30-103 (1)(k).
(b) Effective July 1, 1996, the annual compensation of justices and judges in effect on
the preceding June 30, as provided in section 13-30-103 (1)(a) to (1)(g) and (1)(j), subsection (1)
of this section, and paragraph (a) of this subsection (2), shall be increased by three thousand
dollars, and the annual compensation of all special associate, associate, and assistant county
judges shall be adjusted as a percentage of such amount as provided in section 13-30-103 (1)(k).
(c) Effective July 1, 1997, the annual compensation of justices and judges in effect on
the preceding June 30, as provided in section 13-30-103 (1)(a) to (1)(g) and (1)(j), subsection (1)
of this section, and paragraphs (a) and (b) of this subsection (2), shall be increased by three
thousand dollars, and the annual compensation of all special associate, associate, and assistant
county judges shall be adjusted as a percentage of such amount as provided in section 13-30-103
(1)(k).
(3) For the fiscal year commencing July 1, 1999, and for each fiscal year thereafter, the
increase over and above the provisions set forth in this section and section 13-30-103, if any, in
compensation of justices and judges shall be determined by the general assembly as set forth in
the annual general appropriations bill. Any increase in judicial compensation set forth in an
annual general appropriations bill shall be an increase only for the fiscal year of the annual
general appropriations bill in which the amount is specified and shall not constitute an increase
for any other fiscal year. It is the intent of the general assembly that an increase in judicial
compensation specified in an annual general appropriations bill shall be added to the
compensation set forth in this section and section 13-30-103 and shall not represent a statutory
change.
