Before entering into a contract for the purchase or lease of an electronic voting system or
any ballots, voting devices, automatic tabulating equipment or related equipment or materials to be used in connection with a system, any municipality may require the vendor or lessor to provide
a performance bond with a licensed surety company as surety,
guaranteeing the supply of additional equipment, parts or materials, provision of adequate computer programming, preventive
maintenance or emergency repair services, training of election
officials and other municipal employees or provision of public
educational materials for a specified period, or guaranteeing the
security of the computer programs or other equipment or materials to be utilized with the system to prevent election fraud, or such
other guarantees as the municipality determines to be
appropriate.
