Wisconsin Code § 14.13

Land claims against United States; receipt of payment

The governor may receive from the U.S. treasury department, from time to time, as the governor sees fit to draw for
the same, the 5 percent of the net proceeds of sales of the public
lands to which this state is or shall be entitled, pursuant to the act
of congress approved August 6, 1846, and execute the proper
vouchers therefor. When received the governor shall pay the
same into the state treasury to the credit of the school fund.
