When inquiry of damages unnecessary

There need be no such inquiry in any action upon a bond or other writing for the payment of
money, which by its terms ascertains the amount to be paid thereunder, or against the
drawer or indorsers of a bill of exchange or negotiable note, or in an action or scire facias
upon a judgment or recognizance.
