Mandatory reporting to medical examiner or coroner; postmortem

Any person or official who is required pursuant to section eight hundred three of this article
to report cases of suspected child abuse or neglect and who has reasonable cause to suspect
that a child has died as a result of child abuse or neglect, shall report that fact to the
appropriate medical examiner or coroner. Upon the receipt of that report, thee medical
examiner or coroner shall cause an investigation to be made and report his or her findings to
the police, the appropriate prosecuting attorney, the local child protectrive service agency
and, if the institution making a report is a hospital, to the hospital.
