Supervision requirements -- Hearing instrument interns

(1) Except as provided in Subsection (2), a hearing instrument intern may practice as a hearing
instrument intern only under the direct supervision of a supervising hearing instrument
specialist or supervising audiologist.
(2) A hearing instrument intern may practice under the indirect supervision of a supervising hearing
instrument specialist if the hearing instrument intern:
(a) receives a passing score on a practical examination demonstrating acceptable skills in the
area of hearing testing the division requires by rule made in accordance with Title 63G,
Chapter 3, Utah Administrative Rulemaking Act; and
(b) completes an education and examination program or an equivalent college level program
that the division approves by rule made in accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah
Administrative Rulemaking Act.
