The Department of Public Safety and the Utah Bureau of Forensic Services shall report by July 31 of each year to the State Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice created in Section 63M-7-201, the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim Committee, and the Criminal Justice Appropriations Subcommittee regarding: (1) the timelines set for testing all sexual assault kits submitted to the Utah Bureau of Forensic Services as provided in Subsection 53-10-903(2); (2) the goals established in Section 53-10-909; (3) the status of meeting those goals; (4) the number of sexual assault kits that are sent to the Utah Bureau of Forensic Services for testing; (5) the number of restricted kits held by law enforcement; (6) the number of sexual assault kits that are not processed in accordance with the timelines established in this part; and (7) future appropriations requests that will ensure that all DNA cases can be processed according to the timelines established by this part.
