Certification of state candidates for regular primary election

(1) On or before the first Wednesday after the fourth Saturday in April of an even-numbered year,
the lieutenant governor shall:
(a) publish for the state, as a class A notice under Section 63G-30-102, for 30 calendar days, the
notice described in Subsection (2); and
(b)
(i) transmit to each county clerk the notice described in Subsection (2); or
(ii) transmit the portion of the notice described in Subsection (2) that relates to a particular
county to the county clerk for that county.
(2) The notice required under Subsection (1):
(a) shall list the names of all candidates who are qualified for placement on the regular primary
election ballot for a county, by office, for the following offices:
(i) a federal office;
(ii) a statewide constitutional office;

(iii) state senator;
(iv) state representative; and
(v) State Board of Education member;
(b) shall, in accordance with Sections 20A-6-109 and 20A-6-110, include instructions on how the
names of candidates will appear on the primary election ballot; and
(c) may not include candidates who are unopposed in the regular primary election.
