South Carolina Code § 63-13-50

Fingerprint exemptions.

The fingerprint-based background checks required by this chapter are not required of a certified education personnel who has undergone a fingerprint-based background check pursuant to Section 59-26-40 or of a person licensed as a foster parent who has undergone a state and federal fingerprint-based background check pursuant to Section 63-7-2340, and the results of these fingerprint-based background checks have been submitted to the department and the person has remained employed since the fingerprint-based background check in certified education or licensed as a foster parent or the fingerprint-based background checks have been conducted within the preceding six months.
Effect of Amendment
2019 Act No. 52, SECTION 2, substituted "six months" for "year" at the end.
2024 Act No. 195, SECTION 7, rewrote the section, substituting references to "fingerprint-based background checks" for "fingerprint reviews" throughout.
