(1) The executive appointment of the Director of Transportation by the Oregon Transportation Commission under ORS 184.620 is subject to confirmation by the Senate. Confirmation requires the affirmative vote of a majority of the members of the Senate. (2) If an appointment made under ORS 184.620 is not confirmed by the Senate, the commission shall make another appointment, subject to confirmation by the Senate. (3) The name of the individual to be appointed or reappointed shall be submitted to the Senate by the commission under ORS 184.620. The Senate shall take up the question of confirmation as soon after the convening of a regular or special session as is appropriate. The question of confirmation may be referred to committee or may be acted upon without a referral. (4) If the name of an individual to be appointed or reappointed submitted by the commission is not acted upon during the term of the Legislative Assembly to which it is submitted, the name may be resubmitted to the subsequent term by the commission on or after the date the Legislative Assembly convenes in the subsequent regular session. Note: 184.623 is amended by Enrolled House Bill 3991 (2025 special session). As of the date of publication of the 2025 Edition of the Oregon Revised Statutes, Enrolled House Bill 3991 (2025 special session) is subject to potential referendum petitions that may be filed with the Secretary of State as provided in Article IV, section 1, of the Oregon Constitution.
