§ 170. Power of supreme court justices in Rockland county to appoint\ncourt officer or attendant. The justice or justices of the supreme\ncourt, residing in Rockland county, may appoint, and at pleasure remove,\na court officer or attendant, to attend at the judge's chambers in such\ncounty, and the special terms of the supreme court, held at such\nchambers; such court officer or attendant to receive a salary to be\nfixed by such resident justice, or justices, not exceeding six hundred\ndollars per annum, to be paid monthly by the county treasurer of such\ncounty, upon the certificate of such justice or justices.\n
