The secretary may establish, within each division, such "bureaus" that the secretary deems necessary to carry out the provisions of the Veterans' Services Department Act. The secretary shall appoint a "chief" to be the administrative head of a bureau. All chiefs and subsidiary employees of the department shall be covered by the Personnel Act [Chapter 10, Article 9 NMSA 1978], unless otherwise provided by law. History: Laws 2004, ch. 19, § 10. Effective dates. — Laws 2004, ch. 19 contained no effective date provision, but, pursuant to N.M. Const., art. IV, § 23, was effective May 19, 2004, 90 days after adjournment of the legislature.
