The vocational rehabilitation division of the public education department shall: A. provide vocational rehabilitation to qualified individuals; B. administer any state plan or federal aid funds relating to vocational rehabilitation; C. cooperate and make agreements with public or private agencies to establish or to maintain a vocational rehabilitation program; D. enter into reciprocal agreements with other states to provide vocational rehabilitation; E. accept gifts or grants to be used for vocational rehabilitation; F. enforce regulations for the administration of laws relating to vocational rehabilitation; G. conduct research and compile statistics relating to vocational rehabilitation; and H. ensure that behavioral health services, including mental health and substance abuse services, provided, contracted for or approved are in compliance with the requirements of Section 9-7-6.4 NMSA 1978. The 2004 amendment, effective May 19, 2004, added Subsection H and made other minor amendments. The 1993 amendment, deleted former Subsection H, which read "coordinate programming related to the transition of persons with disabilities from secondary and post-secondary education programs to employment or vocational placement" and made grammatical changes. The 1989 amendment, effective June 16, 1989, added Subsection H.
