Alternate address on license at request of peace officer or retired peace officer: Requirements; application; regulations

1. A peace officer may request, at the
time of application for or renewal of his or her drivers license, the display
of an alternate address on his or her drivers license. The alternative address
must be the street address of his or her employer.
2. A retired peace officer may request, at
the time of application for or renewal of his or her drivers license, the
display of an alternate address on his or her drivers license. The alternative
address must be provided by the retired peace officer at the time he or she
submits the request.
3. A peace officer or retired peace
officer who requests the display of an alternate address on his or her drivers
license pursuant to this section must provide to the Department:
(a) Proof satisfactory to the Department that he
or she qualifies for the display of an alternate address on his or her drivers
license pursuant to this section and any regulations adopted pursuant thereto;
and
(b) His or her address of principal residence and
mailing address, if different from the address of principal residence, for use
by the Department in recordkeeping and mailing.
4. A peace officer or retired peace
officer who receives from the Department a drivers license imprinted with an
alternate address pursuant to this section who ceases to be qualified for the
drivers license:
(a) Shall notify the Department and return the
drivers license within 30 days after ceasing to be qualified; and
(b) May apply to the Department for a replacement
drivers license that displays his or her address of principal residence.
5. The Department shall adopt regulations
setting forth criteria pursuant to which the Department will issue or refuse to
issue a drivers license which displays an alternate address in accordance with
this section.
6. As used in this section, peace
officer means any person upon whom some or all of the powers of a peace
officer are conferred pursuant to NRS
289.150 to 289.360 , inclusive.
