Weighing of motor vehicles by public weighmasters; alternative for farm vehicles

1. The provisions of chapter 582 of NRS (Public Weighmasters) are hereby
made applicable to this chapter.
2. Except as otherwise provided in
subsection 6, all motor vehicles required to be weighed under the provisions of
this chapter must be weighed by a public weighmaster under such rules and
regulations as may be deemed advisable by the Director and the State Sealer of
Measurement Standards, and according to the provisions of chapter 582 of NRS.
3. The Department for registration
purposes only may collect a fee, not to exceed $1, for each vehicle weighed by
the Department.
4. From time to time, upon request of the
Director, the State Sealer of Measurement Standards shall appoint additional
public weighmasters, according to the provisions of chapter
582 of NRS, as may be necessary to effectuate the purposes of this chapter.
5. Public weighmasters certificates
issued in states other than Nevada, when such certificates bear the seal of
such weighmaster, may be accepted by the Director as evidence of the weight of
the motor vehicle for which a license is applied.
6. In lieu of weighing a farm vehicle
pursuant to subsection 2, the farmer or rancher who uses the farm vehicle may:
(a) Weigh the farm vehicle on a scale which has
been certified by the State Sealer of Measurement Standards; and
(b) Use a printout from that scale setting forth
the declared gross weight of the farm vehicle as proof of the declared gross
weight of the farm vehicle for purposes of this chapter.
