The board of trustees of a school district shall have the power: 1. To purchase, rent or otherwise acquire supplies and equipment necessary for the operation of the public schools and other school facilities of the school district. 2. To furnish writing and drawing paper, pens, ink, blackboards, erasers, crayons, lead pencils and other necessary supplies for the use of the schools. 3. To repair any equipment.
