1. Immediately after the closing of the polls, the election officers shall proceed to canvass the ballots. 2. The results disclosed by the canvass shall be certified by the election officers of each county to the county clerk. 3. The board of county commissioners of each county shall open the returns of votes cast, make abstracts of the votes, and cause the county clerk to make a copy of such abstract and to transmit the same to the Secretary of State as provided by the election laws of the State.
