1. No person is eligible to the office of constable unless the person: (a) Will have attained the age of 21 years on the date he or she would take office if so elected or appointed; (b) Is a qualified elector; and (c) Is registered to vote in the township which the office represents. 2. A person who has been convicted of a felony in this state or any other state is not qualified to be a candidate for or elected or appointed to the office of constable regardless of whether the person has been restored to his or her civil rights.
