Missouri Code § 162.411

Board may employ attorney.

The board of any district may retain counsel when necessary to the exercise of its powers. In all school districts in this state which contain one or more cities or towns having a total population of thirty thousand inhabitants or over the school board may employ an attorney on a retainer basis whenever the board finds it necessary to do so and may prescribe his duties, compensation and term of office, which shall not exceed one year.
