(a) The county commissioners may appoint one of the members of the board of county commissioners to the planning commission. (b) (1) The county commissioners shall designate one alternate member of the planning commission who may sit on the planning commission in the absence of a member of the planning commission. (2) When the alternate is absent, the county commissioners may designate a temporary alternate.
