1. A person is guilty of unlawful prize fighting if: A. He knowingly engages in, encourages or does any act to further a premeditated fight without weapons between 2 or more persons, or a fight commonly called a ring fight or prize fight; or [PL 1975, c. 499, §1 (NEW).] B. He knowingly sends or publishes a challenge or acceptance of a challenge for such, or carries or delivers such a challenge or acceptance, or trains or assists any person in training or preparing for such fight, or acts as umpire or judge for such fight. This section does not apply to any mixed martial arts, Muay Thai, kickboxing or boxing competition, exhibition or event authorized pursuant to Title 8, chapter 20 as long as rules have been adopted by the Combat Sports Authority of Maine pursuant to Title 8, chapter 20.
