Petition for evaluation

Sec. 3. If a sheriff, prosecutor, or criminal defense attorney having contact with an adult who has been: (1) detained; and (2) charged with an offense; has reason to believe that the adult may be a qualified adult, the sheriff, prosecutor, or defense attorney may file a written petition with the appropriate court and request that the court select an assessor to evaluate the adult to determine if the adult is a qualified adult.
