Sec. 3. (a) The local office shall maintain the medical record for a foster child when the child is placed in foster care. The record must remain with the child until: (1) the child is returned to the natural parents; (2) the child is adopted; or (3) a legal guardian is appointed for the child. (b) Unless otherwise prohibited by state or federal law, the local office shall provide a copy of the medical record to the child or the child's legal guardian after the child in need of services case or collaborative care case is closed.
