Eligibility; requirements; grant amount award

Sec. 9. (a) To be eligible for a grant under the program, an eligible applicant must do the following: (1) Apply to the department in the manner and on a form prescribed by the department. (2) If the eligible applicant is a school corporation or school described in section 3(1) through 3(3) of this chapter, include in the eligible applicant's application the following: (A) The number of teachers employed by the eligible applicant who intend to voluntarily participate in an approved teacher education course or program. (B) The amount of funding that the eligible applicant is requesting for each teacher who intends to voluntarily participate in an approved teacher education course or program. (C) The timeline by which teachers will complete the approved teacher education course or program. (3) Agree to use the grant funds for teacher participation in an approved teacher education course or program. (4) Meet any other requirements established by the department.       (b) Subject to available funding, the department may award a grant under this chapter to an eligible applicant that meets the requirements under subsection (a) in an amount that does not exceed: (1) the cost for one (1) or more teachers, as applicable, to enroll in and complete an approved teacher education course or program; plus (2) a stipend for one (1) or more teachers described in subdivision (1) in an amount determined by the department.
