Indiana Code § 11-10-10-2

Purpose and period of time

Sec. 2. The department may temporarily release an offender from a correctional facility or program for a designated purpose and period of time, in Indiana, either alone or accompanied by a department employee or other custodial agent: (1) to attend or make arrangements for attending an academic or vocational training institution or program, including attendance in a public school; (2) to obtain or make arrangements for obtaining medical, psychiatric, or psychological services, including treatment for drug addiction or alcoholism; (3) to work or make arrangements for employment; (4) to visit a close relative who is seriously ill; (5) to visit his immediate family; (6) to attend the funeral of a close relative; (7) to make preparations for release or discharge; (8) for recreational purposes; (9) to return to his home or other place authorized by the department during what appears to be his terminal illness; or (10) for any other purpose the department determines to be in the best interest of the offender and the public.
