Civil rights division - director - powers and duties

(1) There is created in
the department of regulatory agencies a division of state government designated as the Colorado
civil rights division, the head of which is the director of the Colorado civil rights division. The
director is appointed by the executive director of the department of regulatory agencies pursuant
to section 13 of article XII of the state constitution, and the executive director shall give good
faith consideration to the recommendations of the commission prior to making the appointment.
The Colorado civil rights division and the director of the Colorado civil rights division are type
1 entities, as defined in section 24-1-105.
(2) The director shall appoint such investigators and other personnel as may be
necessary to carry out the functions and duties of the division. The director and the staff of the
division shall receive, investigate, and make determinations on charges alleging unfair or
discriminatory practices in violation of parts 4 to 7 of this article.
