California Education Code § 22107

(a) “Beneficiary,” with respect to the Defined Benefit Program, means any person or entity receiving or entitled to receive an allowance or lump-sum payment under the Defined Benefit Program because of the disability or death of a member. (b) “Beneficiary,” with respect to the Defined Benefit Supplement Program, means any person or entity receiving or entitled to receive a final benefit under the Defined Benefit Supplement Program upon the death of a member.
