(a) (1) The title âmarriage and family therapist internâ or âmarriage and family therapist registered internâ is hereby renamed âassociate marriage and family therapistâ or âregistered associate marriage and family therapist,â respectively. Any reference in statute or regulation to a âmarriage and family therapist internâ or âmarriage and family therapist registered internâ shall be deemed a reference to an âassociate marriage and family therapistâ or âregistered associate marriage and family therapist.â (2) Any reference in this chapter to the term âinternâ means âassociate.â Any reference in statute or regulation to the abbreviation âMFTIâ means an âAMFT.â (b) This section shall not be construed to expand or constrict the scope of practice of a person licensed or registered pursuant to this chapter.
