(a) An eligible student under § 6-82-2301(2) -(4) may be awarded a stipend of five thousand dollars ($5,000) per year. (b) (1) If an eligible student under § 6-82-2301(2) -(4) accepts a stipend under this section and signs a stipend contract, the eligible student shall be under an employment commitment to the respective division of the Department of Human Services and is required to work for the respective division in a full-time employee status effective immediately upon graduation. (2) The student employment commitment under subdivision (b)(1) of this section is equal to the number of years that the stipend was awarded and accepted. (c) Each division of the department that is participating in the Nursing/Direct Care Education Stipend Program shall determine on an annual basis the number of student stipends available. (d) The department may pay the stipend allowed under this section from the state and federal funds appropriated for the respective division of the department.
