(a) The officers or noncommissioned officers or members of any unit or units of the organized militia may organize themselves into an association or associations. (b) The association or associations may adopt bylaws not inconsistent with the statutes of the state and alter and amend the bylaws and may take and hold such real and personal property as may be necessary for the purposes of the association.
