28-2486. Retention of old certificate of title A. The owner of a vehicle may retain the old canceled certificate of title if: 1. The application for a new title is granted. 2. The old title is marked " canceled" on its face. 3. A photostatic copy paid for by the applicant is made of the canceled certificate of title. B. The photostatic copy is deemed to be the original for purposes of canceled title records of the department.
