(a) The director shall appoint agents who are professional law enforcement officers of honesty, integrity and outstanding ability. Agents shall be adults and shall have at least five (5) years experience in law enforcement including the detection and investigation of criminal activities or shall possess the educational qualifications required by the director after consultation with and approval by the attorney general and the personnel division. (b) The director shall establish a system of continuing education and training to ensure that agents of the division are informed of developments in criminal investigative techniques, criminal law and the law of criminal procedure. (c) The director may employ persons possessing specific skills in the areas of forensic science, criminal identification and the gathering, processing, analysis and security of criminal intelligence. (d) The director may appoint as agents persons possessing specific skills in the area of criminal investigation.
