(1) An elector may vote only at the polling place for his or her residence designated by the governing body or board of election commissioners. (2) Whenever territory which was formerly a part of one municipality becomes a part of another municipality, an elector of the territory shall vote in the municipality in which the territory is included on the day of the election.
