Restricted licenses

(1) The department upon issuing any license pursuant to this chapter may, whenever good
cause appears, impose restrictions suitable to the licensee’s operating ability with respect to the type of or special mechanical control devices required on a motor vehicle which the licensee may
operate, or such other restrictions applicable to the licensee as the
department may determine to be appropriate to assure the safe
operation of a motor vehicle by the licensee.
(2) Notwithstanding sub. (1), the department shall restrict the
commercial driver license of any person to comply with 49 CFR
383.
(3) If a court has ordered that a person’s operating privilege
be restricted for a period of time after the person’s operating privilege revocation period is completed to operating vehicles
equipped with an ignition interlock device, the license shall include that restriction.
