Wisconsin Code § 213.12

The common council of any city and the board of
trustees of any village which owns a fire engine shall annually
pay to each active fire fighter belonging to any fire company organized by authority of the city or village an amount that the common council or board of trustees considers a reasonable compensation for the services of the fire fighter.
