Time to answer in general

A defendant may file his answer at any time before final decree, unless required to file it
sooner under section fifty-six of this article, or by a proper rule of court under section four,
article one, chapter fifty-one of this code, but a cause shall not be sent to rules or continued,
because an answer is filed in it, unless good cause therefor be shown by affidavit filed with
the papers. e
