West Virginia Code § 48-14-503

Limitation on length of commitment

(a) In a commitment under subdivision (5) of section 14-502 the court shall confine the
contemnor for an indeterminate period not to exceed six months or until such time as the
contemnor has purged himself or herself, whichever shall first occur.
(b) An obligor committed under subdivision (5), section five hundred two of this article shall
be released by court order if the court has reasonable cause to believe that the obligor will
comply with the court's order.
