(a) Any person who willfully violates any provision of this article or of the rules shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than $100 nor
more than $500, or imprisoned in the county jail for a period not to exceed one year, or both
fined and imprisoned. Jurisdiction under this section shall be in a court of record exercising
criminal jurisdiction within the county wherein the offense is committed. e
(b) Any person who is convicted of a misdemeanor under this article shall, for a period of five
years, be ineligible for appointment to or employment in a position in the classified or
classified-exempt service, and if he is an officer or employee of tuhe state, shall forfeit his
present office or position.
