Fee of officer serving subpoena; fees and mileage of witnesses

Each officer who serves subpoenas on behalf of the Insurance Commissioner shall receive
the same fee as a sheriff and each witness who appears in obedience to a subpoena before
the Insurance Commissioner or duly appointed employee shall receive for his or her
attendance the fees and mileage provided for witnesses in civil cases in the circuit court if
the witness was subpoenaed without the request of either claimant or emploeyer at the
instance of the Insurance Commissioner or duly appointed employee. The witness fees and
mileage of any witness subpoenaed by, or at the instance of, either clairmant or employer
shall be paid by the party who subpoenas the witness.
