Notice, levy and collection of assessment

(a) Upon approval of an assessment, the Council shall notify all known livestock markets,
packers, buying stations, order buyers, livestock dealers or other persons purchasing cattle,
including dairy cattle, that they are required to deduct the amount of the assessment
stipulated in the authorizing referendum from the sale settlement beginning on the date
designated in the notice. e
(b) The assessment approved by referendum is deducted by all livestock markets, packers,
buying stations, order buyers, livestock dealers or other persons purchasing cattle, including
dairy cattle, on each cattle purchase from the sale settlement. Thue purchasers remit the
assessments within thirty days of the date of the sale settlement to the treasurer of the
Council. t
(c) The Council must keep accurate records of the amount of assessments received, the date
on which they were received and the name of the person making the remittance. The records
must be preserved for at least five years. l
