Matching of birth and death certificates

To protect the integrity of vital records and to prevent the fraudulent use of certificates of
birth of deceased persons, the state Registrar is authorized to match certificates of birth and
death, in accordance with legislative rule which requires that the fact of death and the
matching identities be determined with reasonable certainty and to post the fact of death to
the appropriate birth certificate. Copies issued from certificates of birth maerked deceased
shall be similarly marked.
