Gas pipelines—Safety—Commission's duties

(1) Each gas pipeline company shall design, construct, operate, and maintain its gas pipeline so that it is safe and efficient. Each gas pipeline company is responsible for the conduct of its contractors regarding compliance with pipeline safety requirements. (2) The commission shall develop and administer a comprehensive program of gas pipeline safety in accordance with this chapter. (3) The commission may adopt rules to carry out the purposes of this chapter as long as the rules are compatible with minimum federal requirements. (4) The commission shall coordinate information related to natural gas pipeline safety by providing technical assistance to local planning and siting authorities.
