§ 8732. Special care needs
(a) For the purposes of this section, “special care procedure” means a procedure that
is necessitated by a specific medical need that a person with a developmental disability
would perform but for the person’s disability, provided that, in the determination
of the supervising registered nurse, the procedure may be performed safely by a trained
special care provider.
(b) The Department shall, with the approval of the Board of Nursing, adopt rules that
establish standards for training and supervision of personnel who perform special
care procedures for people with developmental disabilities. The rules shall include
training requirements, competency testing, and requirements for nursing supervision.
