§ 5250p. Sale or purchase of parts prohibited (a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b) of this section, no person shall, for valuable consideration, knowingly purchase or sell a part for transplantation or therapy if removal of a part from an individual is intended to occur after the individual’s death. (b) A person may charge a reasonable amount for the removal, processing, preservation, quality control, storage, transportation, implantation, or disposal of a part. (c) A person who violates subsection (a) of this section shall be imprisoned not more than five years or fined not more than $50,000.00, or both.
