§ 3971. Pleading; hearing The prisoner may deny any of the facts set forth in the return or statement and may allege other material facts. Such court or magistrate may examine the causes of the imprisonment or restraint in a summary manner and hear the evidence produced by any person interested or authorized to appear, in support of or against such imprisonment or restraint.
