Utah Code § 9-8a-201

State Historic Preservation Office -- Creation -- Purpose

(1) There is created within the department the State Historic Preservation Office under the
administration and supervision of the executive director or the designee of the executive
director.
(2) The office shall be under the policy direction of the board.
(3) The office shall be the authority in the state for state history preservation and shall perform
those duties set forth in statute.
