Judicial nominating commissions -- Transition clause

(1) Except as provided in Subsection (2), an individual appointed by the governor to serve on a
judicial nominating commission before July 1, 2023, is removed from the judicial nominating
commission on June 30, 2023.
(2) On or after May 3, 2023, but before July 1, 2023, the governor may appoint a commissioner to
serve on a commission in accordance with this chapter.
(3) A commissioner appointed by the governor under Subsection (2) may not begin the
commissioner's term of service until July 1, 2023.
(4) Nothing in this chapter prevents the governor from appointing an individual removed from a
judicial nominating commission under Subsection (1) to serve as a commissioner under this

chapter on or after July 1, 2023, if the individual's appointment meets the requirements of this
chapter.
