Venue of actions

(1) Notwithstanding Title 78B, Chapter 3a, Venue for Civil Actions, a person shall bring an action
described in this chapter in:
(a) Salt Lake County; or
(b) the county in which the claim arose.
(2)
(a) Notwithstanding Title 78B, Chapter 3a, Venue for Civil Actions, a person shall bring an action
against a county in:
(i) the county in which the claim arose; or
(ii) the defendant county.
(b)
(i) A district court judge of the defendant county may transfer venue to any county contiguous to
the defendant county.

(ii) A motion to transfer may be filed ex parte.
(3) Notwithstanding Title 78B, Chapter 3a, Venue for Civil Actions, a person shall bring an action
against any other political subdivision, including a city or a town, in the county in which:
(a) the political subdivision is located; or
(b) the claim arose.
