Term of license -- Expiration -- Renewal

(1)
(a) The division shall issue a respiratory care practitioner license in accordance with a two-
year renewal cycle the division makes by rule in accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah
Administrative Rulemaking Act.
(b) The division may extend or shorten a renewal period by as much as one year to maintain
established renewal cycles or to change a renewal cycle.
(2) A respiratory care practitioner license automatically expires on the expiration date shown on the
license.
(3)
(a) A respiratory care apprentice license shall expire on the day of the earliest of the following
events:
(i) the issuance of a respiratory care practitioner license;
(ii) the denial of a respiratory care practitioner license application; or
(iii) the termination of enrollment at an accredited respiratory care practitioner program.

(b) Notwithstanding Subsection (3)(a)(iii), a respiratory care apprentice license is valid for 60
days after the day on which a respiratory care apprentice graduates from an accredited
respiratory care practitioner program.
